The Truth About Vasectomy: Treatment Method and Postoperative State

Vasectomy surgery, popular for being a 100% effective contraceptive treatment, has seen a decrease in the number of physicians performing the procedure recently. Our clinic is one of the few in the Kanto region with a high number of vasectomy cases.

What is Vasectomy?

The 'pipe' refers to the vas deferens, the tube through which sperm travels. There are two such tubes, one on each side, located in the scrotum. The vasectomy procedure involves cutting and removing a section of these tubes, hence the name. The incisions made on each side of the scrotum are just 1 cm, resulting in barely noticeable scars.

Does Ejaculation Stop After Vasectomy?

While sperm production in the testicles ceases with vasectomy, the ejaculation of semen remains unchanged. Since sperm no longer mixes with the semen, there is no risk of pregnancy. The sensation of ejaculation does not change.

Will My Libido Decrease?

Many are concerned that vasectomy might lead to decreased erections, lower male hormone levels, or reduced libido. Rest assured, there are no such effects. In fact, many report increased sexual pleasure and libido since there's no longer a need for condoms, allowing for more focus on the sexual experience.

Won't the Accumulation of Unused Sperm Cause Swelling?

Sperm not expelled from the body will not accumulate in the testicles. Instead, they are absorbed by the body's cells. Eventually, the testicles stop producing sperm.
